To get started, open the JamKazam application on your computer. Hover your mouse over your name or email address in the top right corner of the page. A menu will be displayed (pictured below).
Click on the JamBlaster Settings command in the menu (pictured above with arrow), and the JamBlaster Settings screen is displayed (pictured below)
You should see your JamBlaster listed in the JamBlasters On Your Network table, with the yellow text links "Connect" and "More Options" to the right. If you do not see your JamBlaster listed in this table, please check that your JamBlaster is connected to your home router with an Ethernet cable, and that the power supply is connected to the JamBlaster and plugged into a power outlet. You can also click the Scan Network button under the table to have the JamKazam app look again on your home network for the JamBlaster.
One quick note here for a very small number of power users with unusual networks. If you need to assign the JamBlaster a static IP address in order to make it work on your network, then click here for instructions on how to do this. Most users will not do this, and should ignore this power user feature.
When you see your JamBlaster listed in this table, click the yellow "connect" text link (pictured above). The "Connect to JamBlaster" dialog box is displayed (pictured below).
Before you click the Connect button in this dialog box, find the small plastic button located on the back of your JamBlaster, between the power port and the two USB ports. Once you have located that small black button, go ahead and click the Connect button in the dialog box (pictured above). When you click this button, the dialog box will update itself to start a 60-second timer (pictured below). You will have 60 seconds to push the button on the back of the JamBlaster. You don't need to hold down the button on the back of the JamBlaster. Just click it down once.
When you have pushed the button on the back of the JamBlaster, within a few seconds the dialog box will update itself again to indicate that your JamBlaster has successfully paired with your JamKazam app running on your computer (pictured below).
You can now click the Close button to close this dialog box (pictured above). When you close the dialog box, you will return to viewing the JamBlaster Settings screen (pictured below).
Now that your JamBlaster is paired with your computer/app, you are ready to use your JamBlaster! Refer to the help topic Using Key Features In Sessions With Your JamBlaster for instructions on how to get into sessions and how to use the JamBlaster in sessions.
Also note that since your JamBlaster is now paired, the yellow text link on the screen has changed to "disconnect" (pictured above). If you want to unpair your JamBlaster from the app - for example, so that you can go back to using the app with a traditional audio interface temporarily - you would click this disconnect link.
To the right of the disconnect link is a "more options" link. If you click on this link, a menu of other JamBlaster management options is displayed (pictured below).
These menu options include:
Cancel Auto Connect
When you run the JamKazam app and the JamBlaster is powered up and connected to your home network, the app and the JamBlaster will see each other, and will automatically pair/connect. If you do not want the app and the JamBlaster to auto connect in this manner for some reason, click this menu option to suppress this feature.
If your JamBlaster is behaving strangely, you can unplug the power supply and then plug it back in again to restart the JamBlaster. Or you can click this menu option to restart the JamBlaster.
Click this menu option if you would like to give your JamBlaster a name.
Check For Updates
The JamBlaster will automatically check the JamKazam servers for any available updates each time the JamBlaster is powered up and connected to your home network. But you can also ask the JamBlaster to check to see if there are any available updates at any time by clicking this menu option.
Set Static Ports
If you need to manually set the ports on which the JamBlaster communicates, you can do it using this menu option. This is a power user option, and not needed by most users.
If your JamBlaster is having a very serious problem, and you cannot get the problem fixed with the help of JamKazam's support personnel, it may become necessary to use this menu option to reset the JamBlaster back to factory defaults. This will erase everything from the JamBlaster - all settings, recordings, etc. - so this should only be done as a last resort.
Setting Up Your JamBlaster To Use A Static IP Address
You should only do this if you are very familiar with networking technologies, and if you have a good reason to use a static IP address. Most JamBlaster users will *not* need to do this, and should not attempt it. Those users who need to use a static IP will know they need to use a static IP and will know how to do this.
OK, so then if you do need to use the JamBlaster in this manner on your network, then from the JamBlaster settings page, click the Internet tile at the top right corner of the page (pictured below with arrow), and you will see the screen below.
Select the "Manually" radio button, and then you may edit the Manual Settings, and click Save Settings to apply the custom settings required for your network.
