Setting Up Your School On JamKazam

Last Updated: May 03, 2016 09:17PM CDT

Signing Up Your School

To set up your music school on JamKazam, please click here to visit our music school signup page. On this page, click the Sign Up button (pictured below with arrow).

If you have not ever registered to join the JamKazam service, you will also see boxes to enter your email address and password above the Sign Up button. When you click this button, your music school will be created on JamKazam and automatically associated with your JamKazam user account.

Editing Your School's Account Information

After you've signed up your school in this way, go to the home page of the JamKazam application or website (pictured below).

Click the Account tile (pictured above with arrow). The Account page is displayed. Scroll to the bottom of the Account page, and you will see the School section of your account. Then click the Update button for the school section (pictured below with arrow).

The application displays the School page, where you can work on setting up the school properly (pictured below).

First you'll want to enter your school name to replace the "Test School!" text.

Uploading a School Logo

Next, click the "change/update logo" yellow text link to upload your school's logo. When you click this link, the Update Logo dialog box is displayed (pictured below).

Click the "upload new logo" yellow text link (pictured above with arrow). The Filepicker window is displayed (pictured below).

Filepicker is a nifty utility that lets you grab an image from almost anywhere to use as your logo. We'll show how to use a photo stored on your computer, but Filepicker will also let you grab a photo from your Facebook account, Dropbox, and a wide variety of other sources.

In the screen pictured above, My Computer is selected as the source for the photo. You may select another source, but we'll leave it set to the computer. To choose the photo, click the Choose File button displayed under the "Drag file here" window (pictured above with arrow). Clicking this button displays a typical dialog box you can use to navigate through your computer's file system to find the photo you want to use (pictured below).

Select the photo you want to use, and click the Open button at the bottom right corner of this dialog box (pictured above). When you click Open, the photo will start uploading in Filepicker (pictured below).

When the photo finishes uploading, Filepicker will automatically close, and your photo will be displayed in a preview area in the JamKazam app (pictured below).

At this point, you can control what part of the photo you want to use. You can drag the box (with the dotted rectangle outline) around to position it over the part of the photo you want to use, and you can also grab the handles of the box to resize it. Work with the rectangle to highlight the portion of the photo to use (pictured below).

When you have the area of the photo highlighted the way you want it, click the Save & Close button. You are returned to the school account page, with your logo displayed, ready to continue (pictured below).

Selecting Booking/Scheduling Preferences

The next thing to do is to choose how you prefer, as the school owner, to handle the scheduling and booking of lessons with your school's teachers for students who are referred from the JamClass marketplace. You have two options (pictured above with arrow):

  1. School Owner Will Manage - If you choose the first option, then all requests for lessons from students through the JamClass marketplace will be directed to you at the JamKazam user account associated with this school. You will  then be responsible for responding to all such student requests for lessons with any teachers linked to your school. You will coordinate with these students to find dates and times that work for both teacher and student. Once you have confirmed and booked a lesson with a student, then and only then will the student/lesson appear on the teacher's JamClass home page as a booked lesson to teach. Choosing this option lets you as the school owner harmonize and coordinate the scheduling of your school's teachers across both in-person and online lessons at your school, so that this service that you provide to your teachers is consistent across both domains.
  2. Teacher Will Manage - Alternatively, you may choose the second option, and in this case each teacher will receive lesson requests directly from students in the JamClass marketplace. Each teacher will then need to coordinate with the students requesting lessons to work out dates/times.

Also, note that if you choose to manage booking/scheduling yourself, then there is a "Correspondence Email" where you may specify an email address to use for alerts when new lesson requests are received from students.

Connecting to Stripe Account To Get Paid

And finally, at the bottom of this page, you'll need to connect your JamKazam account to a Stripe account to be paid for all the lessons your instructors teach. All payments for all lessons taught by your school's instructors to JamClass students are made to you, and it is up to you to appropriately distribute lesson payments to your teachers in accordance with whatever agreements exist between your school and its instructors, per the JamKazam terms of service.

JamKazam uses Stripe to process these payments to you. Stripe is one of the top Internet commerce platforms in the world. You can learn more about them at www.stripe.com.

To be paid through Stripe, you'll either need to associate an existing Stripe account with your JamKazam account (if you already have a Stripe account), or set up a new Stripe account and associate it with your JamKazam account.

Please click here to review the instructions for how to set up and connect a Stripe account to your JamKazam account. This linked help article explains how individual teachers can set up and associate a Stripe account, but the instructions are the same for you as a school owner, once you reach the point in the linked help article where the user clicks the blue Connect With Stripe button.

When you are finished entering all this information, don't forget to click the orange Update button at the bottom of the page to save all your changes!
